The nine types of intelligence in humans, identify your type
In western society, we are accustomed to predicting an individual's intelligence based on his score on the global IQ test. However, according to the psychologist (Howard Gardner): “Our understanding of intelligence may be very narrow. For each person there are up to nine measures of intelligence, not just one, meaning that the types of intelligence are many.
What are the types of intelligence?
A growing group of educated people believes that intelligence is divided into 9 types of intelligence:
- Spatial intelligence.
- Natural intelligence.
- Musical intelligence.
- Computational logical intelligence.
- Social Intelligence.
- Linguistic intelligence.
- Kinesthetic intelligence.
- Intelligence is a deep personality.
- Existential intelligence.
And according to the "Life Hacker" blog, according to Gardner, author of "Frames of Mind: The Theory of Multiple Intelligences": "All types of intelligence have their strengths and limitations. The mind is not bound by any association at birth."
Gardner goes on to explain that the traditional intelligence with which we are all familiar today is the result of "one being ours," and that each of the nine levels of intelligence is completely independent of its characteristics.
Also, according to the "Life Hacker" blog: Although Gardner's idea has not received widespread support from science, many teachers and educators agree that intelligence cannot be reduced to one entity and that each child thinks and learns completely differently from the other.
What is the origin of intelligence?
Where do the types of intelligence come from?
It is believed that intelligence can be largely hereditary, as a 2015 study published in the online journal Nature Neuroscience suggested that two gene groups (M1 and M3) may be responsible for our cognitive intelligence. Intelligence is associated with memory and attention. Spontaneity, logic, and executive functions.
- Besides, there are many traits associated with intelligence.
- For example, a study declared earlier this summer proposed that general laziness may be a sign of improved intelligence.
- As another example, according to the research, those who are not inclined to deep thoughts are more likely to become bored when sitting in one spot.
- This leads them to gravitate toward sport and other physical activities.
- In the infographic below, the designer (Marc Vital) shows the nine types of intelligence that Gardner is talking about. Take a look at it and find what kind of intelligence is your best.
