Gallbladder Everything You Want To Know About Your Body

Gallbladder

The gallbladder is one of the parts of the digestive system, and it is a sac with a muscular wall. It is located below the liver and in front of the first part of the duodenum. It resembles the shape of a pear, and the gallbladder expands to approximately 50 milliliters of fluid.
The wall consists of several prominent cells called microvilli, where these cells increase the area of   fluid absorption,
the gallbladder consists of three main parts:
Bottom:
It is the distal, circular part of the gallbladder, located near the lower surface of the liver.
The second part is known as the body:
Which occupies the largest part of the gallbladder, located near the lower backside of the liver and transverse colon, and near the top of the duodenum.
The latter is known as the neck:
It is a pointed part related to the cystic duct.
In this context, what is known as the bile duct is referred to as the bile duct? This channel consists of three Y-shaped branches.
The lower branch is known as the common bile duct that ends in the duodenum (the first part of the small intestine),
The upper right part is the liver channel, as it is connected to the liver that produces bile.
The upper left part is the aforementioned cystic duct, and it is connected to the gallbladder where the bile is stored, and the system that consists of the gallbladder and bile ducts that connect to the liver and intestine is called the Biliary system.

Gallbladder function

The primary function of the gallbladder is to store and store the bile juice that helps in digesting the fat intake. It is worth noting that the liver produces bile juice as we have shown, then it is secreted in the small intestine while eating, and in times when food is not eaten, this juice is transferred from the liver to Bitterness to store for when you need it.

Bile juice is made from water mixed with yellow salts to help digest large molecules of fat. In addition, the bile juice is made up of cholesterol, dyes, and some fatty substances.

And until the gallbladder does its job, it contracts to excrete the yellow matter in the gut, after stimulating it by substances that are secreted from the small intestine and stomach when the food is rich in fat, as the bile juice helps digest fats to produce energy.

It is worth noting that bile juice plays an important role in absorbing fat-soluble vitamins such as Vitamin A, D, E, and K.

It is worth noting that, in some cases, gallstones that cause pain can lead to the eradication of the gallbladder, and this condition does not pose any risk to the patient's life, as the liver will continue to produce sufficient amounts of yellow juice to digest fats, but these will not be stored. The juice is in the gallbladder but will pass directly to the digestive system.

Some patients who have undergone cholecystectomy may suffer from some problems such as diarrhea and bloating, but these problems will soon disappear after several weeks after the surgery, but these patients are recommended to follow a healthy balanced diet with care to avoid eating any food or drink that stimulates the appearance of symptoms Or make it worse.

Diseases that affect the work of the gallbladder

The gallbladder is exposed to many health problems that affect its ability to perform its job, and most of the problems appear as a result of the blockage of the bile ducts with stones formed in the gallbladder, as this causes the emergence of many symptoms such as feeling severe pain in the abdomen and nausea, in addition to that the gallbladder may be subject to congestion, inflammation, or infection, or tumors may grow in it, and some people have congenital gallbladder defects,
Here are some of the health problems that affect the gallbladder:

 Gallstones:

It is a common health condition, which often does not cause any symptoms, but in some cases it may cause pain and nausea, and these stones are formed due to the crystallization or collection of some of the substances present in the yellow sap.

 Cholecystitis:

It is a health condition represented by infection of the gallbladder and is often due to the formation of a stone in it. Gallbladder inflammation is accompanied by fever and a feeling of severe pain.

Non-gallbladder disease, or gallbladder disease without stones (English: Acalculous Gallbladder Disease):

This condition occurs because there are problems with the valves or muscles of the gallbladder, and it is worth noting that this condition causes symptoms similar to those associated with gallbladder stones, but without the presence of these stones.

Biliary colic: (English: Biliary colic):

It is called biliary colic and it is a feeling of sudden pain as a result of temporary blockage of the bile duct flow due to the presence of stones.

 Choledocholithiasis:

This condition is represented by the formation of stones in the common bile ducts.

 Gallbladder cancer:

This is a rare occurrence and is usually detected in the last stages because it does not cause the appearance of No symptoms except in the last stages.

Tips to keep the gallbladder safe:-

A healthy lifestyle plays an effective role in reducing the chance of suffering from gallbladder disorders and problems, including gallstones, and accordingly, a set of tips that can be used to maintain the integrity of the gallbladder can be provided as follows:
  •  Avoid eating refined carbohydrates, such as:
  •  White flour, sugars, and refined grains. Eat whole grains and oats.
  •  Maintaining a healthy and ideal weight, as obesity is one of the risk factors that play a role in developing gallbladder problems. Maintaining the body mass index within the normal range helps to maintain the health of the gallbladder,
It is also advised to avoid losing weight quickly, as rapid weight loss makes the gallbladder and liver work all the time, which may sometimes lead to an increased chance of gallstones, so it is advised that the weight loss be slow and moderate.

Take care to choose healthy fats, such as omega-3s that are found in some types of fish and nuts, and limit the intake of foods rich in unhealthy fats or saturated fats, such as meats and processed foods, whole milk, fried foods, instant or ready foods, and chocolate, Ice cream, and candy bars of all kinds.
